Oak Park

First, we start our voyage in Oak Park, Illinois. This is the town Ernest Hemingway was born. My traveler, Britt Coomler, has a house here in Oak, Park. I have planned for her to visit the Banned Books Week at the Oak Park Public Library, Alice, a Seldom Scene Woody Allen Film, at the Oak Park Public Library, Career Night at Keller Williams Realty Professionals, and the Exhibit of paintings at Forest Park National Bank before I drive her to Chicago where she wants to go shopping before she catches her plane to leave for Valencia, Spain. The British Ariways plane leaves Chicago in the evening of October 1st to connect with another flight in London from the iberia Airlines. She will arrrive in Valencia in the evening of the next day (October 2nd). This one way ticket costs $1411, and is sixteen hours and thirty minutes long.

Oak Park is a suburb just outside of Chicago going west. It is in Cook County. The town is about 4.7 sq. miles with a population of 50,824 people. Its border to the south is the town of Cicero. The entire village of Oak Park lies on the shore of the ancient Lake Chicago which is now Lake Michigan. The average temperature in October is about 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

The main language spoken in Oak Park is English, and they use the U.S. dollar for their currency. They are also one hour behind the time in Indianapolis, Indiana. That means if it is 10:00 P.M. in Indianapolis, it is 9:00 P.M. in Oak Park. The people in Oak Park appreciate the arts very much. It is best known for the praire style houses.

Oak Park has a tradition on Saturday mornings between June and October. From 7:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. thay have a farmer's market held at the Pilgrim Church. They have donuts, juices, and coffee for you to enjoy while they have live concerts of blugrass music. The farmer's market has fruit, vegetables, and lots of trinkets as well as clothes for you to buy.
